A herdshare means you're buying a share of our dairy herd rather than the milk itself. As a shareholder, you own a portion of the cows and receive your proportional share of the fresh, unpasteurized milk they produce each week.

Your share is your ownership interest, and that ownership is what entitles you to a portion of what the herd produces. A half share typically yields about a half gallon a week and a full share about a gallon, though actual volume rises and falls with the herd and is never guaranteed. The cows stay here on our farm, where we handle all of their daily care.

Because you can't buy milk from us — you can only receive milk from cows you already own. In Texas, raw milk can only be sold by dairies holding a Raw for Retail permit from the Department of State Health Services. We're structured differently: instead of selling milk, we sell shares of our herd, which Texas recognizes as ownership rather than a sale.

When you join, you purchase your share through a bill of sale, and then pay an ongoing boarding fee for us to feed, milk, and care for your cows on your behalf. That fee covers their care, not the milk — which is why it stays the same whether the herd is producing heavily, production dips in the winter, or you're out of town for a week.

Keep it cold — the back of the fridge, not the door. Raw milk holds up best at a consistent temperature, and it's at its best in the first several days.

You should store your chicken in the freezer until 2 days prior to use. Then put into the fridge to thaw.

Careful handling and sanitation aren't a step in our process — they're the process. We're meticulous about both, and we test our milk every month to confirm our practices are holding up.

We are not certified organic. We manage our farm holistically with these practices.

2. Never give antibiotics to our chickens and meat lambs and steers
3. We judiciously use antibiotics on our dairy cows and breeding sheep to ensure their health and quality of life.
4. We rotationally graze all of our animals to provide fresh, nutrient dense forage, to build healthier soil, and to prevent over grazing.

Our prices reflect the true cost of raising animals responsibly and sustainably. Unlike large commercial farms, we raise our animals on pasture, feed them high quality organic  feed, and ensure they have plenty of space to live naturally.
